If you’re just getting started with Linux programming, take a trip over to LinuxProgramming.com and look around.  There are many examples of Linux programming, and a relatively new feature called SourceLib has small, focused examples that show how to use many of the operating system’s features and services.  The site also contains news of interest to Linux programmers, and periodic editorials.  Lou Grinzo, the site’s editor, is on something of a crusade to bring responsible development practices to the world of Open Source programming.  His standards show in the SourceLib material:  each example is focused, well-written, and well-documented.  In his editorials, he continually stresses the value of good coding practices, testing, binary compatibility, and treating users with respect.  One can only hope that the community will actually listen.
