I haven’t had a lot of time for carving lately, what with home repair projects and Springtime yard work. When I have had time, I’ve been working on these little guys.
They’re supposed to be bears. Some say that they look like dogs. I don’t much care what other people think they are. They’re cute.
From left to right, the woods are sycamore, sycamore, Bradford pear, and apricot. Pear bear is right at three inches tall.

Are they your own creation or have you been following a tutorial?
These are my own design, after a fashion. There are definitely influences from Gene Messer’s Five Minute Bear (see http://blog.mischel.com/gene-messers-carving-videos/#20090213_Whittlingthe5MinuteBear ), as well as from some other things I’ve seen over the past two years. But I didn’t follow a pattern or tutorial for these.
Once I refine this a bit more I’ll look into doing a picture tutorial.
