One thing I have noticed using Vista Business x64 is that if I copy something from a folder on a local drive to the removable media and try to safely remove the media it will give me this error until I close the source folder for the local drive. I have assumed that something in the copy process when dragging and dropping is holding handles open. Maybe we are seeing an artifact of their performance enhancements for file copy made after so many people complained about the performance with the initial Vista release.

I've had similar problems sporadically with removable disks of all types, without using Remote Desktop. I haven't investigated exactly what handle was open.
